Superbowl XLIII!

If it were my decision, I think Superbowl Sunday should be declared a national holiday. This is one of the biggest days of the year for me that I really look forward to. Unfortunately Superbowl XLIII doesn’t feature my favorite team the Colts with Peyton Manning or the Giants with his younger brother Eli Manning. It still should be a heated match-up this year though. The Cardinals high powered offense unexpectedly came on to the scene with an outstanding quarterback in Kurt Warner and future pro-bowl receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Throw in a little bit of Anquan Boldin and you got one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL. Kurt Warner, with a superbowl title already under his belt, will need to win to almost ensure himself into the pro football hall of fame. In Superbowl XXXIV back in 1999, Kurt Warner went on to win against the Tennessee Titans while throwing for 414 yards and 2 touchdowns. He will be highly tested tonight when he takes on the NFL’s best defense, the Steelers. They have DT Casey Hampton, LB’s James Farrior and James Harrison, and of course SS Troy Polamalu. The Steelers defense, per game, has allowed 237.2 yards which ranks 1st in all of the NFL. They also rank 1st in points allowed which is only 13.9 points per game.

The game seems to be pretty even as far as matchups go. Most of the voting polls I’ve seen so far up to this day have shown about 52% of the people picking the Steelers to come out on top and 48% picking the Cardinals. It’s definitely one of the closest matchups i’ve seen so far in superbowl history as far as voting goes. So who will come out on top? We’ll find out tonight at 6:00 p.m. Oh yea and if you’re a Bruce Springsteen fan, then you’re in for a treat as he will perform for the halftime show! And if you’re one of those people who are looking forward to the commercials, than sit back and enjoy those as well because they are always funny!

My pick: Steelers come out on top with a score of 24 with the Cardinals scoring 21. My MVP winner is Ben Roethlisberger. Pull out your “Terrible Towels” everyone!!!
