Dear Katie,

I am Val, a fellow believer in Dreams Coming True. I am writing to invite you to be part of a worldwide project to remind and spread the belief that Dreams CAN come true; to inspire Dreams:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=171991367311&ref=ts

I "found" you when I was googling for "I Believe That Dreams Can Come True", and your blog came up; and I read your entry on Dreaming Big. It was (very) heartening to know that there is someone else out there who believes in the same thing me and my partner stand for. Because "inspiring dreams" was the very intention that birthed this project.

Eventually, we will travel around the world and document dreams coming true - giving everyone the "allowance" to dream, the "permission" to do things they truly love, the "possibility" of them becoming someone greater.

We are hoping to get 10,000 people to join the group by 17 Nov 09.
10,000 people who (still) believe that dreams can come true for the project to take off.

It would mean a lot to us, for someone like you, who too, believes in dreams and actively advocates to inspire, who is living your dreams to be part of this project.

Join the Facebook Group.
Share your Dreams with us.
Invite your friends.
Blog about it.

Whichever way you choose to support this belief, thank you.

Have a beautiful day ahead!

Best regards,
Val

Great post, Heather! I am pretty sensitive to the "anti-hearing" discrimination at Gallaudet because most of my life I was a hearing person...I had my accident shortly AFTER I applied to Gallaudet as a HUG student. I'm considered a "regular" student because of my hearing loss, but I still understand what hearing students at Gallaudet experience. This was a really great response to the girl who contacted you.

Gallaudet doesn't have a BA in Speech Therapy though, so that girl will find herself mostly interacting with the hearing grad students anyway...

Hello! I googled costa rica deaf community because I am going down to CR in February and I wanted to hang out with the deaf community there. I know they speak LESCO but I just wanted to go because I need the challenge again. I'm a student of ASL and nearing the end of my students. Why am I tell you this? I'm wondering if there is someone who might be an "ambassador" person who might be willing to introduce a hearing ASL person studying Espanol. Got any ideas?

Hello! My name is Linda LaCoste and I am a graduate student at the University of North Texas. I am writing a research paper on Gallaudet and was hoping to find someone to ask some questions to better understand some aspects, from a student's perspective. Would you be willing to field a few questions from me?

Hey Heather, wooo hooo I love that last blog, and your quote is perfect! may I add, "Never judge a book by it's cover!"

I just cannot understand how some Deaf individuals prefer to limit their lives further, not that being Deaf is limited to any means, but to be available for the opportunity of personal enrichment, you never know who will inspire you.

Thanks :) I am doing much better. Hopefully, I will be well enough to be able to come back to Gally either this coming Spring or Fall.

I'm glad you had such a good experience with SHS. It can be quite comforting to have such a resource nearby when you aren't feeling 100%.

Yikes, I hope you're feeling better now.

Exactly, as I said, SHS is not good with complicated stuff, but great for those common illnesses.

I've heard my fair share of SHS horror stories, but was actually surprised with the quality of my visit.
